The Three Pillars of Exposure: Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed

High Shutter Speed


At the beginning while the sun is still partially up and the courtyard has reasonable light

Towards the end when there is no sun and has gotten dark enough that you can't see from one end of the courtyard to the other.

Slow Shutter Speed

“Aperture Priority"you set the lens aperture, while the camera automatically sets the shutter speed. 

“Shutter Priority”where you set the shutter speed and the camera automatically selects the aperture.

“Manual” where you set both shutter speed and aperture manually.

1. What are the advantages of shoot at a higher ISO at a sporting event like basketball or a night football game? 
The higher the ISO and shooting it at night the picture will becoming more clear. 
2. What suggestions did the author make about using a low ISO?
Is on low ISO is at a high speed pace.

Is on high ISO is at a low speed pace.

  • F4 - 1/250 (The background is blurry)
  • F5.6 - 1/60 (The background is less blurry)
  • F8 - 1/60 (The background is less blurry)
  • F11 1/60 (The background id more clear)
  • F16 1/30 (It's the same the background)
  • F22 1/8 (The background is more clear and blurry)
    At slow shutter speed people are blurry.
    An higher shutter speed will solve the problem.
    The lowest shutter speed is 1/40.

adds a dimension to a photograph by blurring the background, or magically brings everything in focus.

My favorite 5 Ws and H would be Caption Alex Rodriguez because you can see a lot in this picture it can mean a different then what I describe it as.
